Hi, I’m Eve Smith, a figurative artist and arts professional living in Kansas City, Missouri. I recently bought a house here and turned one of the rooms into my dream studio with eight windows of light pouring in every day. Happy dance!

My love for art started in a small Louisiana town where my twin sister, Dawn, and I grew up drawing on anything we could find, usually the backs of our mom’s old sewing patterns. We’ve both built creative lives from those early days. She went into design, and I followed my heart into fine art. A summer of studying in Italy sealed it for me as I fell in love with figurative work and the stories that live inside every curve, gesture, and brushstroke.

Today, I’m proud to work as the Development Manager at Folk Alliance International, the largest nonprofit in the world dedicated to the folk music community. I love being surrounded by artists and visionaries who use their voices to build connection and preserve culture. It feels like the perfect extension of my creative life.

Kansas City has been such an inspiring new home. I’m diving deep into the local art scene and community while continuing work on Mama’s Sweet Tea, a multi-year series exploring Southern womanhood, memory, and identity through graphite and gold leaf portraits.

Dawn and I also run an Etsy shop where we sell prints and originals, and we’re launching a Snail Mail Art Print Club, a monthly envelope of beauty filled with prints from both of us, a favorite piece from art history, and a few little goodies like stickers for the resistance.

At its heart, my work is about connection between people, stories, and place. I hope what I create invites you to slow down, reflect, and find a bit of yourself in the quiet spaces between the lines.
